Biography

Tom Kingston is a versatile and dynamic composer and producer, lauded for his commercial releases as one half of the duo Solomon Grey as well as for his composition for television and film, his primary focus since the band’s hiatus in 2021. Combining classical and jazz training with contemporary production, Tom is equally at home working with leading orchestras and musicians as he is harnessing electronic and experimental sounds, often combining both worlds to powerful effect.

Bringing a lifelong passion for making music to every project, Tom works instinctively with the stories he is entrusted to tell. Having written for pictures for over ten years, he relishes the creative process of exploring, developing, and refining the unique musical identity each project deserves.

Tom is scoring the UK comedy feature The Incomer (2026), starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gail Rankin, and John Hannah. Directed by Louis Paxton, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, taking home the Grand Jury Prize in the NEXT section. Set on a remote Scottish island, Tom’s compelling music is intimately woven into the fabric of the film. With a modern and experimental approach, the score melds traditional folk influences, tape loops, and off-kilter rhythms with classic strings to create a truly unique contemporary identity.

Prior to this, Tom contributed additional music to the hit Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar (Netflix). This followed his score for the five-part Showtime/Paramount+ docuseries The World According To Football (Showtime/Paramount+), executive produced by Trevor Noah, with the hybrid OST released on Lakeshore Records in 2024. Other feature work includes the US indie movie Mabel, which featured a poised chamber score performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Tom also continues to find success in sync, with works chosen for trailers, adverts, and notable television moments worldwide. His compositions have featured in projects ranging from Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan and Harry to the official trailer for Blindspotting (Starz). Furthermore, Solomon Grey productions have been heard on trailers for The Dig (Netflix), The Time Traveller’s Wife (HBO), and Dheepan, as well as in scenes in Animal Kingdom (TNT), Power (Starz), How To Get Away With Murder (ABC), and Long Way Up (Sky).
