Biography

James Righton is an Ivor Novello nominated songwriter, performer, composer and producer based in London. His work in scoring films and series includes BBC 1 series Daddy Issues starring Amy Lou Wood and David Morrissey, Benjamin by Simon Amstell, I'll Be Right There starring Edie Falco, and Netflix documentary Untold: The Liver King by Joe Pearlman.

Righton has composed music for Dior, Tiffany's, EE, Comic Relief, Tate and Frieze and his music has featured in numerous film and television shows including Skins, Shameless and Les Cinq Diables. In 2024 he composed runway music for Erdem at the British Museum as well as music for the Tiffany & Co Wonder exhibition in Tokyo and the Landmark in New York.

Alongside work in film and television James has released 3 solo records and worked with a diverse array of artists including ABBA, The Chemical Brothers, Rihanna, Arctic Monkeys and Soulwax/2manydjs.

Before embarking on a solo career Righton was a founding member of the band Klaxons, who's multi platinum selling debut won the Mercury Prize in 2007. The band released 3 albums, toured extensively and supported Bjork, Daft Punk and Blur. Righton recently scored the Venture land produced documentary Just Sing which premiered at Tribeca and is currently working on ITV drama Adultery starring Romola Garai and Dominic Cooper.
