Hannah Peel
Hannah Peel is a Northern Irish artist, composer, producer and broadcaster.
Known for her exacting and powerful scores, her music often crosses boundaries between electronic, live instrumentation and sound design. Her credits include Mubi's 2025 'neo-western' thriller Bring Them Down; the Netflix film Scoop starring Gillian Anderson and Billie Piper; plus Sky's 7-part sci-fi adaptation The Midwich Cuckoos, for which she won the Ivor Novello 'Best TV Soundtrack' award in 2023.
Known also for her solo record career, Peel has stated that her Emmy nomination in 2019 for composing and producing the soundtrack to Game of Thrones: The Last Watch kicked off her career in a way she had only dreamed of previously.
In the six years since then, her film credits include 2022's Rogue Agent starring James Norton and Gemma Arterton, the up coming 2025 BFI film Silent Roar, and the BBC documentary Lee Miller – A Life On The Frontline.
Her solo record career includes the shortlisted 2021 Mercury Music Prize electronic album Fir Wave, 2016's Awake But Always Dreaming—an ode to her grandmother’s mind as she lived withdementia—and the space-themed Mary Casio: Journey to Cassiopeia, which connects brain neurons to stars in our solar system, scored for synthesisers and a 30-piece colliery brass band.
Hannah is a regular weekly presenter on the BBC Radio 3 show Night Tracks, highlighting independent artists and soundtracks. She is also a frequent collaborator with artists including Paul Weller, arranging and conducting orchestral parts for every album since 2017.
2025-26 will see the release of several new feature films scored by Hannah, including the book adaptations of Bernard MacLaverty’ Midwinter Break and Robert McFarlane’s Underland.
