Anne Chmelewsky
Anne Chmelewsky is a London-based composer and writer for screen and stage. Hailing from Paris, Anne trained in composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and went on to study with the support of the Astor study award at the Royal College of Music. Anne is a multi-instrumentalist originally training on the trombone and piano, and with an ongoing passion for brass music, Anne is the composer in residence for the Spitfire Audio Trombone Quartet and was commissioned to compose for the Youth National Wind Band’s 2020 tour.
Anne’s film scores include Iain Softley’s 2023 Disney+ release The Shepherd, produced by Alfonso Cuarón, Maggie Contreras’ 2023 Tribeca feature Maestra, Amma Asante's feature film Where Hands Touch which premiered at TIFF 2018 with the score receiving a ‘Discovery Of The Year’ nomination at the 2019 World Soundtrack Awards as well as Mark Weeden's feature film Only People, Sofian Khan's Do We Belong (The Atlantic Selects 2018) and An Act of Worship, (Field of Vision).
Anne’s TV work includes BBC 1’s The Other Bennet Sister (2026), Disney+’s first Nordic Original 6-part series To Cook A Bear (2025), for which she was nominated for a Riagalan award in Sweden, Emmy & Golden Globes nominated series Derek (dir. Ricky Gervais, Netflix / C4), and in 2022 she scored Catherine Hardwicke’s episode of the series Cabinet of Curiosities for Netflix created by Guillermo del Toro.
Anne’s first operatic venture was an operatic version of the hit series The Office, which sold out across the UK, supported by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Her second opera, ‘The Looking Screen’, was performed extensively both throughout the UK and internationally, as well as broadcast on UK TV and radio. She has also written for The Independent and The Huffington Post. Her third opera Pygmalion 2.0 was developed with the support of the PRS foundation and began previewing in the UK in 2017.
